FAQ
When will my bags ship?
If we currently have an extended lead time, it will be posted in a banner at the top of the site. Note this is an estimate, as often when we have an extended lead times it is due to supplier delays or machinery breakdowns, and these are difficult to predict. Currently, we are getting up to speed on production on the V4 bags, and we have had multiple tooling and machinery problems that have delayed production. We are working to get bags out the door as quickly as possible.
My bags are fading, what should I do?
Our ballistic nylon bags will fade in the sun if not UV treated. When we chose the fabric for our bags, we had to choose between colorfastness and durability. We chose durability. There are colorfast fabrics out there, but they are much thinner and less abrasion resistant than our Ballistic Nylon. We recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant applied monthly if your bike is kept outside in the sun. It can restore some color to your bags. If your bags are severely faded, we have seen excellent results using fabric and vinyl spray paint from Rustoleum or Krylon. When applied to clean bags in very light coats, it makes a durable and flexible finish without clogging up the weave of the fabric.
How do I maintain my bags?
Clean fabric surfaces with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Apply 303 Aerospace protectant to fabric surfaces monthly to prevent sun fading. Clean leather surfaces with saddle soap, and apply Doc Bailey's Leather Black as needed.
Will bags made for one bike fit on another bike?
No, they will not. Bags are only compatible with the models listed on their product page. They also can't be retrofit for a different bike. The molded backs will not fit a bracket for a different model of bike.
I bought these bags at a swap meet, what model are they?
First measure the center to center distance between the mounting holes on the bracket. They will fit the following bikes:
-
- Dyna: 10 3/8"
- 2018-Present Softail: 7"
- FXR: 8"
- Sportster: 7 5/8"
- 2017 and earlier Softail: 9 1/4"
If your bags are made of a thick boot leather all around, those are our Classic Series bags, which were discontinued in 2020. You can still get hardware kits for them here.
If your bags are made of a ballistic nylon or jacket weight leather material with a thick leather top, those are our Retro Series bags. There have been multiple revisions, that can most easily be identified by looking at the lock on the inside of the bag.
I lost my keys, can I get replacements?
We can't replace keys, you will have to replace the whole lock. You can find them here.
My bags aren't clamping tightly anymore.
The clamping pressure on the V1-V3 bags is adjustable to compensate for wear. The adjustment mechanism has 2 stickers on it, marked T and L. Turn the nut between the stickers according to the arrows to tighten or loosen the clamping force. It may get jammed, watch this video to see how to continue adjusting it if the nut gets stuck.
For all other questions please fill out the form below. We are not offering phone support at this time. The V4 launch has us all hands on deck to get bags out, and nobody is in the office to answer the phone.
We are a busy shop, but we do our best to respond to messages here as quickly as possible. Let us know how we can help.
